An Urgent Announcement about Transgender Healthcare in Florida

Amid horrific attacks on trans, nonbinary and gender nonconforming youth and families, Florida’s also trying to make it profoundly difficult for adults to access life-saving, gender affirming healthcare—we refuse to let that happen.

We’re working with our clinicians and local partners to evolve our approach to care in Florida to ensure we can continue to provide gender affirming care safely and responsibly, in compliance with the new requirements. We will also continue to offer our peer-led support groups and other non-clinical services, and will share information as the state provides more detail around the new law.

Here’s how Plume is responding?

  • Right now, we’re focused on helping current Members get the care they need.
  • We’re offering $0 virtual peer support groups to everyone in Florida impacted by these laws.
  • We’re working with clinicians and partners to evolve our approach to care in Florida, to ensure more physicians across the state can safely prescribe gender affirming hormone therapy and more people have access to a clinician they can trust.

The trans community is under attack in Florida as Gov. Ron DeSantis signs SB 254 into law. This law imposes severe restrictions on trans, nonbinary, and gender non-conforming Americans of all ages. It outlaws care for youth, making it impossible for people under 18 to access gender-affirming care. SB 254 also targets care providers by threatening them with felonies for providing essential, life-saving care.

To support our community, Plume is working with partners and our clinical teams to find new ways to increase safe access to care and address this crisis, in compliance with the law. We’ll offer more details on these plans in the coming weeks.

Trans-led healthcare

From gender-affirming hormone therapy and transition support to medications for anxiety and depression, it can be hard to find one clinic or doctor who understands how to care for you. That’s why we founded Plume, a virtual home for transgender, nonbinary, and gender non-conforming people.

We offer a range of healthcare services, including prescriptions for estrogen or testosterone. At Plume, you can be your authentic self and get the gender-affirming care you need. You don’t have to teach your doctor how to care for you—instead, you can let your Care Team support you with a unique care plan that is customized to your transition goals.

We’ll always respect your gender identity, pronouns, name, and gender expression, and we’ll always put your wellness first. We’re here for you when you’re ready.
