Voting While Trans: 2024 Election Resource Guide

Election 2024: Why Should I Care?

Feeling overwhelmed by the upcoming election? Wondering if your vote matters?

As trans voters, you may have unique questions, such as how to register if you’ve recently legally changed your name or gender marker. Or, understanding your voting rights, or actions you can take if you run into an issue at your local polling place.

Elections have consequences, and the stakes have never been higher. The 2024 elections are expected to be one of the closest ever; every vote truly counts

Over the past few years, the trans community has faced unrelenting attacks.  Just this year alone, we’ve seen more than 500 pieces of anti-trans legislation being proposed at statehouses across the country, putting up new barriers to accessing medically necessary care while threatening clinicians and entire health systems with criminal penalties for providing gender-affirming care – care that is backed by science and supported by EVERY major professional medical association in this country.

These attacks threaten our freedom. Trans people deserve equal access to health care, housing, employment, and, frankly, a safe, affirming environment.

Elections give all of us a chance to speak up—on issues, candidates, and the direction of our country.

We encourage everyone to get involved; none of us can afford to sit on the sidelines. We MUST each step up and fight to protect our freedoms and ensure a better, brighter tomorrow.

Get engaged, volunteer, and VOTE!

We’ve got you covered with key resources to check your registration, help you register to vote (it only takes 2 minutes), locate your polling station, and learn about your rights as a trans voter. Plus, find out how you can volunteer or support events in your local community.
