Looking for trans healthcare resources in Florida? You’ve come to the right place!

Florida’s trans and gender non-conforming (TGNC) community has been facing increasing challenges when it comes to accessing medically necessary gender-affirming care. Recent legislation and court decisions have created roadblocks, especially for trans youth and adults who rely on affirming providers to maintain their health and well-being.

Despite these obstacles, trans healthcare resources still exist to help trans people across Florida access the care and support they need. From virtual hormone therapy providers to local LGBTQ+ friendly clinics and community centers, this guide will walk you through some of the options available today.

What’s Going on with Trans Healthcare in Florida?

As of August 26, 2024, the 11th Circuit Court of Appeals issued a stay on a previous federal ruling that had found Florida’s law banning gender-affirming care to be unconstitutional. This stay means that Florida can once again enforce laws that ban GAHT for minors and restrict care for adults, as outlined in FL SB 254.

These restrictions include requiring in-person consent forms signed by a licensed MD or DO before trans adults can start or continue hormone therapy. Nurse practitioners, physician assistants, and other licensed providers are not currently allowed to prescribe GAHT in Florida.

This has made it more difficult, but not impossible, for trans adults to get care. And that’s where we come in.

Plume Clinic is here for trans adults in Florida, offering gender-affirming hormone therapy (GAHT) through telehealth. Even with Florida’s current restrictions, we’re committed to providing safe, legal, and affirming care to every adult who needs it.

While some in-person facilities in Florida offer gender-affirming care, telehealth provides unique advantages, especially in today’s legal climate. With Plume Clinic, you can access care that is safe, discreet, and private, without the stress of frequent in-person visits and long waits. Our trans-led team understands the importance of affirming, judgment-free healthcare, and we make it possible to start or continue GAHT from the comfort and safety of your own home. No matter where you live in Florida, Plume Clinic is working hard to make sure gender-affirming care is still accessible, safe, and affirming.
