Plume Celebrates Pride

Pride 2021

Plume People

We asked Plume staff what they are doing to take care this Pride and here’s what they shared. Get to know some of our amazing LGBTQIA+ staff!

Liam (he/him)

Care Coordinator

Liam provides support to our members in their journeys of becoming who they were always meant to be. He handles details for Plume folks regarding medical gatekeeping, family support, GAHT care, injection technique, and just existing overall in a world that doesn’t validate them.

What I’m doing to take care this Pride

“I’m taking care by letting myself enjoy things in life that I have a hard time giving myself permission to. When I started to do that, I found myself making plans with intention, setting boundaries with loved ones, showing up in ways that I wasn’t able to before and getting more involved in mutual aid projects! I also make sure to stay laughing every day.”

Lana (she/her)

Sr. Community Coordinator

Lana oversees community partnerships with Plume and connects with various communities to expand our reach.

What I’m doing to take care this Pride

“I’m connecting with community, uplifting and upholding my trans family and spreading trans joy through liberation.”

Aceland (he/him)

Care Coordinator

Aceland is a loud and proud gay transman who works as a Care Coordinator at Plume. When not working alongside his amazing team, Aceland enjoys crafting, going on walks, and taking trips with his partner.

What I’m doing to take care this Pride

“This month I will be celebrating Pride by allowing myself to live authentically as a feminine man. So often transmen are forced to conform to cis-masculinity but I am going to celebrate Pride by embracing all parts of me – whether masculine or feminine.”

Yader (he/him)

Care Coordinator

Yader has worked in healthcare for over 20 years and wants to do fulfilling heartwarming work alongside our community.

What I’m doing to take care this Pride

“I’m gathering with friends to celebrate each other and our pride. Every day at Plume is a day filled with fulfillment in being there for our community. We lift each other up. I’m also taking time to be in nature and coordinated with my inner self.”

Tierney (she/her)

Care Coordinator

Tierney grew up in a small southern town where there were little to no resources for the LGBTQIA+ community and she knew she wanted to do something that would advocate for this community for the rest of her life.

What I’m doing to take care this Pride

“This month I will be embracing who I am, embracing my partner for who she is, and embracing the validation of our relationship. Lots of dancing in the kitchen, singing Lady Gaga at the top of our lungs, and thanking/remembering Marsha P. Johnson for everything she did, so that our community can be where it is today.”

Derrick (they/them)

Paid Media Manager

Derrick’s background is in genetics and community involvement with former aspirations to work in healthcare or teaching. Their career path transformed into marketing, having worked at media agencies, a design firm, and tech companies. At Plume, they amplify Plume’s mission, services, and programs across digital channels.

What I’m doing to take care this Pride

“I enjoy reflection and meditation during this time, where I make time to acknowledge my LGBTQ+ ancestors, educate myself, and remember my greatness. It’s been an important part of my healing to reclaim my energy and center my needs. I find that caring for myself is activism and allows me to recharge so I can care for others and be part of my communities.”

Piper (they/them)

Sr. Product Manager

Piper works with the Product team building tech and experiences to serve the needs of our members and Plume clinical team.

What I’m doing to take care this Pride

“I will be learning about queer and trans history and trancestors, supporting queer artists, casting spells, donating to orgs and individuals. Thanks to the vax, I will probably throw a backyard BBQ, karaoke, dance, and drag party for my dearest queers.”

Zander (he/him)

Sr. Behavioral Health Specialist

Zander spends his time with Plume and other companies focused on delivering wellness, leadership, and conflict management training programs nationally and internationally.

What I’m doing to take care this Pride

“In addition to leading several wellness webinars each week focused on sleep hygiene, emotion regulation, effective communication, navigating uncertainty, and stress management, which reinforces the importance of self care, I am also regularly engaged in a mindfulness practice and spend quality time with my wife enjoying the fabulous weather and laughing a lot.”

Clem (they/them)

Sr. QA Engineer

Besides being a QA engineer at Plume, Clem lives in Oakland, CA and loves to write poetry, read, collect vinyl, and spend time with their rescue cat.

What I’m doing to take care this Pride

“I am fully vaccinated so I plan to attend Trans March in person and I am cooking meals for myself with fresh seasonal produce and soaking in as much sunlight as possible.”

Marc (they/them)

Care Coordinator Manager

Marc leads the amazing team of Care Coordinators and supports them through navigating both their jobs here at Plume and helping them to find a balance between work and personal life so that they can bring their best selves each day to support our patients. They’re nonbinary and passionate about supporting the LGBT community. In their free time, they love playing board games, watching movies, and hanging out with their 5 chickens.

What I’m doing to take care this Pride

“I’m going to take some time to myself to unplug a bit, and spend a few days off reading, relaxing, and spending time with friends and family. I’m making sure to take care of myself so that I can share that love with everyone around me. Making sure to get out in the sunshine is definitely key! The people close to me, and my community of trans folks all over are so incredible and have the power to change the world. I just make sure I can do what I can to support them.”

Jerrica (she/her)

Co-founder, Chief Medical Officer

Jerrica is a mom, physician, trans woman, educator, advocate and lover of all things athletics and the outdoors. At Plume she helps support general direction of the company and also ensure that our medical services are provided with the highest quality possible. She grew up in North Carolina and now lives in Denver, Colorado. She loves anything to do with bicycles, hiking, yoga and spending time with her child. Fun fact – she used to own a bike shop!

What I’m doing to take care this Pride

“I will be doing lots of self care! And joining in on events/celebrations as I am able. I will also be attending to my healthcare, exercising, being outside, and spending time with my child.”

Angelita (she/her)

Operations Coordinator

Angelita has jumped from working as an executive assistant at Plume to working as an operations coordinator alongside the amazing folks on the operations team. She comes from a background of working in the brick and mortar healthcare system with a focus on transgender healthcare, as well as having experience as a musical theatre performer.

What I’m doing to take care this Pride

“I will be appreciating and celebrating with the incredible team that I get to work with every day at Plume, and acknowledging the amazing diversity that makes up the company. I will also be listening to a heavy mix of queer artists, watching tons of queer films, and wearing many eclectic outfits.”
