Plume Announces Partnership with #YouAreEssential Campaign to Raise Funding for Black Trans Lives

DENVER – June 30, 2020Plume, the first health tech company built for the transgender community, is thrilled to announce its partnership with social impact campaign and national relief fund #YouAreEssential to raise funds in support of Black trans lives. All proceeds raised by the Plume x #YAE campaign will go to providing Black trans individuals gender affirming hormone replacement therapy (HRT) in their communities.

Plume provides safe, expert, and affirming hormone replacement therapy through the convenience of a smartphone guided by a team that is mostly trans themselves. Its mission is to provide quality gender affirming care in all communities where trans people seek it.

“There are more than 1.4 million trans-identified people in the US, a quarter million of whom are Black and who may not have access to safe and reliable gender affirming care,” said Jerrica Kirkley, Plume Co-Founder and Chief Medical Officer.

“By partnering with #YouAreEssential, an organization with critical reach in our underserved communities, we are able to center the most vulnerable in our trans community and raise funds that will provide life-saving HRT services to where it’s not currently or readily available.”

#YouAreEssential was founded by media powerhouse Ashlee Marie Preston and creative social change agency Revolve Impact to award grants to grassroots organizations and mutual aid networks working directly with vulnerable communities disproportionately impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic. Its objective is to inspire cross-cultural, collaborative efforts that yield abundant resources, resilience, and reignite hope in a time of despair.

This is the first #YouAreEssential campaign in partnership with Plume that aims to raise funds directly supporting Black trans lives.

“The #YouAreEssential campaign was launched with the understanding that the most vulnerable people within our society are often doing the most vulnerable work; while lacking adequate resources to help sustain their efforts—presenting barriers to progress for them and those they serve,” said Ashlee Marie Preston. “We share in Plume’s recognition and commitment that companies and organizations alike must continue to advocate for the structural change these communities deserve.”

“Revolve Impact in collaboration with #YouAreEssential is honored to partner with Plume, who are providing Black trans individuals the critically important hormone replacement therapy they need while also granting funding that ensures organizations doing lifesaving work and people who are most vulnerable are supported and resourced,” said Mike de la Rocha, Co-Founder & CEO, of Revolve Impact.

#YouAreEssential is an initiative of Accelerate Impact Fund, a sponsored program of the Social Impact Fund, a 501©3 non-profit organization. All donations are tax-deductible and can be made through here.
