Styler is the owner of Metamorphosis Fitness, the first openly body-affirming, queer owned gym in Denver, Colorado, focusing on creating a safe space for people who don’t feel comfortable in a traditional gym setting. They will be talking about managing stress, increasing confidence, and rebuilding a relationship between ourselves and our bodies through movement, and dismantling gender norm expectations and toxic diet culture. Study: Nutrition and exercise as a ‘source of empowerment’: A narrative inquiry of transgender men

The purpose of this study was to explore the lived experiences of transgender men related to nutrition, exercise, and body image throughout their transition using narrative inquiry design. Data collection involved semi-structured interviews with ten transgender men at various stages of medically transitioning.

LGBTQ Youth Are Developing Eating Disorders at Higher Rates

The Trevor Project released a new research brief that highlights how LGBTQ youth are at greater risk of developing eating disorders and how this can affect their mental health as well as risk of suicide.

Experts say this kind of research is necessary to raise awareness about ways to put better interventions in place to help LGBTQ youth not only manage and seek treatment for eating disorders, but also address other underlying mental health issues.
